A lime plant is an ad-equation between the natural reserves of a deposit which has specific chemistry and the mineral solution provided to customers. The technology and know-how to operate the quarry, to transform the stone, to calcine it, to hydrate it and to mill it in very fine size are oriented to customer needs. Every market where lime plays a role requires specific Calcium chemistry, morphology and crystallography. Quality consistency linked to reliable logistics chain and contractual volumes are key parameter for strong market position. The challenge for the best of the best is to capitalize in human resources to achieve high performance in operating cost, maintenance, safety and environment. Training people in these disciplines is a key activity for the know-how management. What makes the difference is innovation and creativity for developing new technologies, new products and new solutions for the promotion of circular economy better integrated in the community and taking part of world challenge like global warming. During the 32 years of experience in lime activities I have had the opportunity to act along this value chain which defines myself as an expert in lime manufacturing. I developed my skills and realized the following innovations- Specific operating procedure for regenerative lime kilns- Expert system for regenerative lime kiln- Automatic system for measuring stone sizes and surfaces online. Recently I have built my expertise in alternative fuels and waste management because they are big challenges for communities and the industries that are energy demanding. Creativity and innovation for matching those two pole activities are my key strengths. As example of designed realisations- Original fuel injection system for big size particles as waste and other biomass inside vertical kiln - Original drier design for big particles in thick layers and low temperature energy- Design of alternative fuel management system for big organization.
