About Bernadette Torrez

I received my Doctorate Degree in Clinical Psychology with an area of expertise in Neuropsychology from Alliant International University - CSPP. I also hold a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology with an area of expertise in Addiction & Recovery. Over the last 25 years, I have worked in a variety of clinical settings, including university academic hospitals, community mental health, in-patient treatment facilities, school based programs, intensive in-home treatment, and private practice. The areas of clinical work that I specialize in include: Complex Trauma/PTSD, Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar, OCD, Schizophrenia, Addiction & Recovery, Couple Dynamics, Infertility, Grief & Loss, and Borderline Personality Disorder. I work with Individuals, Couples, and Families. In addition to my clinical work, I am a Full-Time Core Faculty member at the Wright Institute where I teach and advice counselors how to be effective Marriage & Family therapist's. The courses I teach are: Diagnosis & Empirically Supported Treatment, Theories and Techniques in Counseling; Family Therapy, Life-Span Development, Clinical Measures & Assessment, Multi-Cultural Awareness & Sensitivity, Sexual Health, Common Therapeutic Factors, Couples Counseling, and Professional Development. Specialized Training: I have specialized training in Eye-Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Clinical Hypnosis, Emotional Focused Therapy, Mindfulness Evidenced Based Practices, Brief Strategic Family Therapy, Multi-Dimensional Family Therapy, and Neuropsychological Testing. Currently, I provide psychological humanitarian services to disadvantaged SES populations in Honduras. I also continue to teach as an adjunct professor for Alliant International University and the Wright Institute.
