Background

About Bernadine de Beaux

I am an early career researcher and am currently working as a sessional tutor at Murdoch University, Perth, Western Australia. I have worked in Australia, Israel, Japan, the United Kingdom and New Zealand. I have written and published a children's Book "Bartholomew Badger of Broxmead Lane", a refereed article based on a conference presentation, and am currently writing articles for submission to journals (2024). I am a member of various cultural heritage and archaeological associations around the world. I hold a bachelor degree, two graduate diplomas, two masters degrees and a PhD in Archaeology.Areas of research focus include early medieval history and archaeology, biblical/religious history and archaeology, museology, witches and warlocks, Roman infanticide and cultural heritage. What captivates me the most about museology and historical archaeology, is how we as heritage professionals can bring the past to life for the audience. The in-depth study of archaeology, museology and cultural heritage at university has allowed me to get a deeper insight into the field. It has also made me aspire to work within the cultural heritage sector at an international level. Through my studies I have gained extensive research skills, and through my previous curatorial and general heritage employment I have gained experience with outreach programs, exhibition planning and installation, public speaking, guiding and audience engagement. My love of educating others has stemmed from my own love of education, and my lifelong learning. I believe that education can be fun, innovative and exciting, creating enthusiasm and a lifelong desire to learn more.
