About Bernado Etienne

I am a current student studying Information Technology and Systems at the UTD Naveen Jindal School of Management. I've grown up around a lot of business-oriented people, my father owned a business in which I was always interested. I would go into my father's office and watch him work for hours, since then I knew I would always have a drive for business, the idea of being your boss has always been intriguing to me. During the Covid-19 pandemic, I did a lot of research on business and investing and learned a lot from my father during this time. Sadly, my father passed away before I graduated high school from cancer, so I started to help run the business with my mother and ended up starting my own. I promised him that I would keep the business running and succeed in my career. Experience: During the summer of 2020, I started to work at Whataburger for the experience, I worked there for a year and a half but had to leave due to my father being sick. Working there taught me a lot about customer service and how to work with money at a fast pace. My father owned a business where he would get contracts with other companies and hire employees to work for their companies which we get a certain percentage of what they make. When my father passed away, I started to help run the business and started investing which I've been able to grow tremendously. Doing this has allowed me to have better time management skills while also being able to do multiple tasks at a given time. Helping to run this business has also enhanced my thinking skills allowing me to have more ideas for my work helping me extend my business to many other fields. I am taking a business-oriented course called Introduction to Professionalism and Communication in business. This course will help me with communicating with customers, other business owners, and just your everyday person. this is a very useful skill because you are most likely communicating with people daily in business. Another course I am taking is Energy Laws and Contracts, this class is good for learning about how America works with the rest of the world, this is helpful because knowing how to work with people from all around will help you gain experience since people function differently in different places. I am also taking American national government; this will help me widen my knowledge to understand how our country works and how I can inflict the laws into my own business and work.
