Launching UPSHIFT Marketing, a Seattle-based consultancy for e-commerce strategy, I advocate, champion and educate manufacturers and suppliers specifically for online retail channels - primarily Amazon.As a “new school” buyer & relationship/vendor manager previously at Amazon, I’ve had the opportunity to engage and launch automotive aftermarket and lifestyle/enthusiast brands. Bridging the gap between hard work, industry understanding, and traditional buying practices - I’ve been fortunate to gain an accelerated understanding of e-commerce and driving selection and sales. I’ve had experience managing relationships with hundreds of direct vendors, distributors, manufacturer’s reps, while managing hundreds of thousands of unique SKUs, simultaneously. During my tenure at Amazon, I also had the unique opportunity to own and participate in internal initiatives above and beyond my vendor manager duties, including various Amazon SME (subject matter expert) roles in areas of pricing systems/logic development, compliance/hazmat, Frustration-Free Packaging, hardlines buyer training and curriculum development, promotional tools development, in-stock inventory parameters, global sourcing, and development of the Vendor Central portal.In my experience, having to work with such a large customer and vendor base has instilled respect for each vendor’s specific challenges, resources and opportunities.
