From the Field to Tech: My Journey You read that right—I’m a former pro athlete. But what you probably don’t know is that I made it to the CFL without ever playing college football. Honestly, I still don’t know how I pulled that off 🤷. I spent a few years grinding on the practice squad, got released, kept playing semi-pro ball in the U.S, and then—bam! Knee injury. 🩼 That’s when life called an audible. Now that we’ve addressed the purple elephant, let me properly introduce myself in my native Detroit slang: What up doe! I’m Bernard Gleton, a former pro football player turned IT educator, speaker, and tech consultant. After years of dodging tackles, I now tackle the IT world with the same intensity and passion. What I Do Now: I help people and businesses unlock the power of tech—whether that’s through education, consulting, or speaking. Public Speaker – I speak on career transitions, mindset, personal growth, and breaking into tech. IT & Tech Educator – Teaching CompTIA certifications and other tech disciplines to career changers, veterans, and underrepresented groups. Media & Business Consultant – Helping brands grow their visibility through advertising, content creation, and media strategy. I’ve trained and coached dozens of professionals who have successfully landed tech jobs, earned certifications, and started businesses.
