About Bernard Kaplan

As the Managing Director-in-Charge of the Boston Retirement & Benefit Plan Services Group, I provide design implementation and third party administration for retirement plans, including profit sharing, pension, 401(k), employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs), 403(b), 457 plans. I also consult on a wide array of other benefits including Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs), non-qualified deferred compensation, health and welfare plans, and I represent clients before the IRS and DOL. I have been with CBIZ & MHM since 1985. With over 30 years of experience as a pension consultant, I consult on a wide variety of employee benefits topics with particular emphasis on retirement plans, executive compensation, non-qualified deferred compensation, 409A, and healthcare reform. I am a frequent speaker in the community and at our internal not-for-profit & education seminar series in Boston and Providence, and author articles on retirement plans. I was an adjunct professor at Boston University, teaching a course in retirement planning for the University's Certified Financial Planning (CFP) Program, and I am the founder and past Chairman of the BKR Prototype Retirement Program. I am a member of the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries (ASPPA), the National Tax-Deferred Savings Association (NTSA), the Massachusetts Bar Association, the Boston Bar Association, and the College & University Professional Association or Human Resources (CUPA-HR). I am also actively involved in my community as the former Chair of the Board of Directors for Jewish Community Housing for the Elderly (JCHE) and serving as a member of the Board of Trustees at the Brimmer and May School. In my spare time you can usually find me visiting Cape Cod, cheering on Boston sports teams or playing golf. I am also an avid music fan.
