About Bernard N. Hogben
My life purpose is helping people to achieve their goals, whether it be finding or accessing information in higher education, giving talks on library-related topics such as employment best practices, communication or coaching, or empowering others through the spiritual aspect of our lives. My computer background includes working extensively with ILLiad software, which includes writing custom routing rules, web page modification, deciphering log files related to software problems, server upgrades, and add-ons. I was on a team that implemented a print management system for the college in 2013/2014, resulting in significant savings of consumables. My teaching philosophy, as it relates to Gerontology, includes providing information and life skills that may be used well beyond the end of the semester. Music is an integral part of my social life. Celtic, classical, bluegrass, gospel and traditional blues. I have performed for weddings, funerals, memorials,parties, and outdoor festivals in almost any type of weather; music is a universal language. A passion related to coaching is using the MBTI. Once a type is known, it can open many doors related to communication, team work and turning challenges into an opportunities.
