Research on EU lawmaking: Central to my work is the strategic interaction between political actors, their interests and the formal and informal structures of the decision-making process. This includes the current lawmaking procedures and the balance of power between the main European ‘institutions’, and the role of the Commission under delegated and implementing acts. • Research on the implementation of EU policy: In this research I explore how domestic actors, including regional and local governments affect European policy and its effectiveness. • Teaching includes 'Economic Theory of Politics (BA-level course in Public Administration) and ‘EU Policymaking and Implementation'(MA-level course in Public Administration). • Administration and governance: currently I am the Scientific Director of the Public Administration Institute of Leiden University.
