Bernie is the global leader for Aon’s Crisis Management Team based in Denver, Colorado. Bernie has over 35 years of experience in specialty crisis management insurance and has led Aon’s US Crisis Management team since 2010. Responsibilities under crisis management include political risk, terrorism and political violence, product recall and contamination, kidnap & ransom and personal accident, and contingency. With more than 35 years’ experience in this specialty risk management class, Bernie works with some of the largest companies globally to address their crisis management exposures. Bernie spent the first ten years of his career as an underwriter for crisis specialty lines and was involved in the initial development of many of these policies. For the past 25 years he has been both a retail and wholesale broker specializing in various crisis lines. Bernie is recognized as one of the world’s leading product recall, contamination, and food borne illness insurance specialists. He is a frequent author and speaker on the topics of product contamination and recall insurance. His Emerging Trends in Product Recall and Contamination Risk Management Review has been published annually since 2010. Bernie has been a licensed insurance producer and a licensed surplus lines insurance producer since 1994 and is a 2016 and 2021 Risk & Insurance® Power Broker® award recipient.
