About Bertrand Buisson

After completing my two-year preparation to the selective French engineering school admission exams, I entered the Ecole Polytechnique in Palaiseau, close to Paris. There I had the chance to have a multidisciplinar cursus with a lot of scientific classes in biology, chemistry, mathematics, quantum physics, computer science and mostly mechanics and energy technologies (nuclear and renewable). Before finishing my master I had the chance to spend two years at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne where I completed a master in mechanical engineering, with many courses in automation, fluid mechanics, energy technologies, numerical analysis and computer science. I also add some opportunities to discover different work environments during my internships. At Stanford University I could work in an academic research lab and develop both experimental and theoretical skills. At Western Geco in Norway I could discover the Oil industry and work on a learning machine project, which was an exciting way to discover this fascinating technology field and improve my numerical analysis skills. Finally I did my Master thesis at Areva NP. This was my first experience in the nuclear industry. My activities there were all oriented towards the physical understanding and the numerical modelling of nuclear severe accidents. The techniques used were Computational Fluid Dynamics, mixed language programming, use of thermodynamical softwares, numerical analysis, software analysis.
