Background
About Beth Collison
25+ years providing compassionate support to diverse communities. Committed to professional development, always striving to enhance the skills I bring to my practice. My early social work experiences were in Vancouver in community based programming with Newcomer youth, women in the Downtown Eastside, and Child Protective Services. My next steps were to Ottawa, completing a Master of Social Work degree and benefiting from incredible learning at the Ottawa Cancer Centre and employment in the Emergency Departments at both Civic and General Hospitals. To Toronto, my current home, and my initial work at Ceridian LifeWorks EAP - a rich professional experience in which I embraced the opportunity to work with a growing company and support the development of service offerings for managers and employees with substance use. My work returned to the community for 12+ years as Addiction Therapist at Breakaway Addiction Services, working with people addressing their opioid use and living with complex mental health issues and trauma. In July 2019, the incredible opportunity to work in physician wellness with the Physician Health Program at the Ontario Medical Association. My role as a clinical coordinator brings together and builds on the experiences from all previous chapters. Most recently, in 2024 supporting the PHP to launch our physician Peer Support Program and in 2025, stepping into the newly created role of Peer Support Program Lead. Through these years, my commitment to development and learning has remained strong, completing training in CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, complex trauma treatment, narrative therapy, and more.
