About Beth Desimone

I am the Chief Risk Officer and General Counsel at SouthState Bank, N.A. a regional community bank headquartered in Winter Haven Fl, with offices throughout the Southeast. I have responsibilities over the risk functions, corporate governance, and legal, including M&A, contract negotiation and vendor management for the organization. From November 2011 to October 2016, I was the Executive Vice President and General Counsel of CommunityOne Bancorp, a $2.5 billion community bank headquartered in Charlotte, NC, where I was responsible for the legal and compliance areas, as well as enterprise risk management, operational risk, regulatory relations, and community and investor relations. CommunityOne Bancorp was merged into Capital Bank Financial Corp, Charlotte, North Carolina in October 2016. I spent most of my career as a financial services attorney at Arnold & Porter, LLP in Washington, D.C. While there, I structured and negotiated mergers and acquisitions of, and investments in, financial services companies, including private equity investments. I also helped turn-around troubled financial institutions, establish new financial institutions and nonbank subsidiaries for financial services companies. And I worked with financial services companies in strategic planning activities, and charter review. I also focused in the consumer banking area, I structuring lending and deposit programs of all types. I also structured and resolve issues associated with new card products and services. In the mortgage area, I work to resolve issues under HMDA, RESPA and TILA. and the fair lending laws.
