About Beth Dooley

I am a qualified lawyer specialising in agricultural and environmental law and policy, with experience working on climate change mitigation & adaptation, international law, and rural development issues. I have lived and worked in the European Union for over a decade researching European sustainable agricultural policy and law for public research projects as well as international environmental conventions, trade and soil protection. I previously researched and consulted with farm families and rural professionals on farm employment and labour management and succession planning, including business entities, estate planning, trusts, easements, management transfer, debt absorption, etc, in addition to mediating farm credit disputes. I completed a PhD in Sociology at the University of Exeter, as the recipient of the Rowan Johnstone PhD Studentship, focusing on learning within farmer discussion groups. Stakeholder engagement, capacity building, outreach and facilitation are key areas of interest, including multi-actor and farmer-led innovation. I am a passionate advocate for farmers and the environment as interdependent producers of high-quality, nutritious food and ecosystem services.
