About Beth Easson

I am a passionate learner, dedicated to supporting people to make positive changes. Meaningful work is essential, it is where my values and passions align providing a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction. Motivated by the need for growth and continuous learning, is why seven years ago, after stepping into the classroom as a community college educator, I quickly realized, that I needed to learn more to be a better educator. Five years later, after successfully completing community college education diploma and a Master in Adult Education degree focused on how to build a community college educator through foundation, focus and fortitude, not only did I become a better educator, I became a better person. Through fearless pedagogy, I lead a team and teach, by building relationships first, creating that safe space of belonging. Then, through self-awareness we can build the skills needed for self-directed learning and self-determination. Through reflective practice and observational skills, I am always learning and building practice. When we take the time to observe others with a curiosity to learn and grow, they will teach us, how to collaborate with/teach them. Since covid-19, I have earned certifications in social-emotional learning facilitation, transformative teaching and leadership in addition to becoming a 500-hr yoga instructor. With this knowledge I have a stronger foundation for self-care, self-compassion and resilience. I bring a calm and mindful presence to spread kindness to others, and confident in my ability to share or guide the practice if and when and needed. I believe it is my commitment to work, that has built a reputable Achieve program at the NSCC Annapolis Valley Campus. It is a program that because of my recruitment and commitment to retention, continues have consistent enrolment. Building relationships within high schools and administration, community resources and with students and family members have strengthen the reputation of this student-focused and directed, life transitional program. Such a commitment to work was also the driving force of Community INC successfully negotiating three consecutive increases within the employment service contracts for persons with disabilities in Kings and East Annapolis Counties while under my leadership.
