About Beth Foster

I am a passionate engagement specialist and human rights law student with a background in qualitative and quantitative research, community outreach, and policy-driven reporting. I currently work with Healthwatch Gloucestershire, where I lead engagement projects focused on amplifying the voices of communities and driving improvements in local health and care services. With a First-Class Law degree and an LLM in Human Rights, Conflict and Justice underway, my interests lie at the intersection of social justice, inclusive policymaking, and community-driven advocacy. I bring lived experience as a neurodivergent person to my work, and I’m committed to making systems more accessible, accountable, and people-centred. My previous professional experience includes coordinating a research project exploring mentalization in domestic violence perpetrators. My academic and extracurricular projects reflect my global perspective and commitment to innovation. As a finalist in a sustainability competition hosted by Earth Hacks and Arizona State University, I co-developed a proposal to reform and extend the UN Sustainable Development Goals by introducing a new goal aimed at achieving gender equality through the empowerment of LGBTQ+ communities. We presented our idea at the American Association for the Advancement of Science’s annual meeting. In a separate project with Earth Hacks and Earth League International, I presented a legal solution to combat the illicit totoaba supply chain contributing to the near-extinction of the vaquita whale. Working alongside international experts, our proposal was prepared for inclusion in a white paper aimed at advancing real-world environmental solutions.
