Hello, and welcome to my profile! I'm Beth Stoudt, and my career story is anything but typical – it's a testament to the power of curiosity and the pursuit of those "aha!" moments. It might surprise you to learn that my professional path began with an unexpected fascination for spreadsheet formulas. I vividly recall a transformative moment, an "Elle Woods"-esque epiphany, where I realized my true calling lay in teaching others how to unlock the magic of numbers. I started my professional journey in industrial hygiene, a role that demanded precision, analytical thinking, and problem-solving. I was immersed in data, from measuring ventilation to tracking chemical exposure, ensuring employee safety. I even flexed my coding muscles early on, automating the cumbersome process of assigning parking to 160 faculty members, proving my ability to streamline complex operations. For over 20 years, I poured my heart into education, teaching Computer Science and Math. I wasn't just imparting knowledge; I was fostering resilience and a love for learning. One of my proudest achievements was single-handedly transitioning my Computer Science courses from a computer lab to Chromebooks in a single weekend, a testament to my adaptability, resilience and resourcefulness. I even taught Computer Science while learning it myself, embodying a "learn-by-doing" philosophy that resonated with my students. Beyond the classroom, I've embraced opportunities to lead and connect. I coordinated international student ambassador trips, fostering global understanding. As treasurer of the Eastern PA Council of Teachers of Mathematics for 15 years, I managed a budget of $500K, honing my financial acumen, and ensuring equitable compensation for 540 teachers. And then there's my softer side: a passion for animal welfare. For five years, I've been a kitten foster, meticulously tracking vaccinations and coordinating care, showcasing my dedication to detail and my nurturing spirit. Oh, and did I mention I can code in Java, Python and HTML, love the structure of BC Calculus, and have a soft spot for problem-solving in Computer Science? And, I have a Garfield collection that would make you smile.
