All views/posts are my ownSeventeen years experience in science/STEAM education and public engagement with science and in a variety of contexts including community biology labs, science centers/museums, high school, and college level teaching. Twelve years in education leadership roles in non-profit and the federal government. Five years professional experience in research on the molecular and cellular basis of neurological disease.Highlights: Developed and implemented informal science education programs at engaging under-represented minority students in scientific inquiry; recruited and trained scientist volunteers working with students and public audiences; coordinated community science outreach events; taught biology courses and science research skills at an independent high school; coordinated planning for a national genomic literacy initiative aimed at enhancing genomic literacy in community members and adult learners, healthcare providers, and K-16 educators and students; developed a public awareness campaign around the 15th anniversary of the completion of the Human Genome Project involving science writing, educational resource curation, partnership mobilization, educator engagement, and digital communications.
