About Beth Wilson

I have always had a great love of the arts: classic or modern, impressionistic or abstract. For my Bachelor’s Degree, I attended Ball State University for Architecture and Urban Planning. I completed my 4 year program in 2010. As I began my job search, it became apparent to me that the part I loved most about Urban Planning was the problem solving and graphic work, therefore I decided to go back to school at the Indianapolis Art Institute and study Graphic Design. I believe the combination of form and function is key. If it looks nice, you only have 50% of the work accomplished. True success of a piece is measured by if it also functions well or conveys the ideas the designer had intended. Furthermore, time is money. Efficiency is everything. If a designer can work through the design process with advanced skills in the computer programs paired with a fueled work ethic, they are capable of building a real career for themselves. The quick turnaround time is viewed positively by clients, which, in turn, generates more clients. Lastly, know your competition. As freelancers in graphic design today, I know there are a lot of us out here aiming for the same jobs. It’s important to know what others are charging, the services they provide, so that you can figure out ways to boost your services, efficiency, and reputation in the area. Skills- Proficient in Microsoft office programs - Comfortable in both Mac and PC environments - Experienced in Google SketchUp and Google Earth - Proficient in Adobe programs including Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and Dreamweaver - Comfortable working with GIS
