About Bethany Aksterowicz

I am currently a TESOL teacher in South-Western City School District. I previously taught fourth grade in South-Western City School District. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Education degree with endorsements in reading (grades preschool - 12) and generalist (grades 4 - 5) studies. I completed my MAE (Master of Arts in Education) with a focus on Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) for which I also hold an endorsement (grades preschool - 12). I most recently completed a Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction degree. In my time as an educator, I have: • Managed the instructional needs of up to 60 multi-age multilingual learners annually by methodically designing and implementing instruction that integrates technology and addresses cross-curricular learning standards • Extensively collaborated with colleagues to plan and execute differentiated instruction in all subjects based on learner needs, assessment data, state standards, and instructional design theory (ADDIE Model, Gradual Release of Responsibility, and others) • Created, executed, and adjusted long- and short-term plans with actionable strategies to meet learner and school goals and objectives, following principles of curriculum and instructional design theory • Co-authored a series of lessons, informed by best practices and research, to be utilized by eight or more teachers and over 200 students annually • Demonstrate leadership and advocacy with colleagues and administrators to address the cultural, learning, and communicative needs of over 100 diverse individuals annually I am a lifelong learner who is passionate about utilizing my certifications, training, and experiences to create meaningful contributions to the world of education, especially the development of educational resources, curriculum, and content.
