About Bethany Bogan

As a PhD Candidate at Emory University, my research interests include cardiovascular pharmacology, drug discovery, and lipid biosynthesis. Primarily, I am passionate about patient advocacy and DEI initiatives in the clinical and research space, and ensuring that science communications are translatable to all. My research thesis aims to investigate the role of fatty acid synthase (FASN) in the transition of smooth muscle cells to a foam cell phenotype, within the atherosclerotic plaque. I have expertise in lipid metabolism, smooth muscle cell biology, lipid signaling, fatty acid synthesis, vascular biology, and vascular diseases. I am always eager to learn new information and get others excited about science. In addition to my Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, with a concentration in Biochemistry, I hold a minor degree in Digital Photography. I am seeking regulatory affairs and toxicology/pre-clinical safety roles in Industry and Biotech.
