About Bethany Johnson

Looking for work in Ireland starting mid-March 2024! Hey, I'm Bethany: traveler, creator, and friend. Once it became clear to me that I would probably never realize my dream of being the greatest American spy that ever existed, I decided to find new (and more realistic) exciting ways to experience the world. Shortly after graduating with two Associate's degrees, I packed up and moved to Germany to work as a civilian employee for the US Department of Defense. Every day that I wasn't working was spent exploring Europe and Northern Africa. I've now been to 37 countries (and counting). I have a passion for helping people in any way possible. Whether it's building houses and helping in a clinic in Jacmel, Haiti, making memorable vacations for military families in Germany, or designing incredible trips for small groups around the world, I do it with all of my enthusiasm and love. Having a varied background has given me a wide range of experiences and skill sets. Working in a dessert shop for three years showed me how to deal with tricky customers and orders while being a supervisor at the same shop strengthened the skills I needed for diplomacy and strong leadership. Having been offered a job selling pool and hot tub equipment and supplies before knowing anything at all about pools or hot tubs, I became a quick learner and a great saleswoman. Working in a hotel that caters to US military personnel in Europe, I have learned more about the hospitality industry than I ever did in lectures at school, communicating with coworkers who don't speak a word of my language, how to handle special requests and delicate subjects, and how to work alongside strict security protocols and rules. Being an event and music photographer has allowed me to hone my creative skillsets and find true passion in my work. Remaining employed in the travel industry through a pandemic has taken my problem-solving skills to new heights, expanded my capacity for patience, and show compassion through customer service. But my years of travel have been the best education of all. I can get by in new surroundings on my own, make friends in any setting, and stick to an extremely tight budget when necessary. I have become fluent in nonverbal communication, but have also learned to have conversations in Italian, German, and French while picking up phrases in a dozen other languages. But most importantly, I'm able to adapt quickly to any situation I find myself in, learn fast, and know when to blend into a crowd as needed while also knowing when to rise up and stand out.
