About Bev Kelley-Miller

I am passionate about teaching. I really enjoy working helping students make the connection between psychological theories and real-life situations. It's really evident when the ah-ha moment has occurred. I taught in many different formats: hybrid courses which entailed work on Blackboard and in the classroom, Interactive Television courses (ITV) and traditional courses. I truly enjoyed the traditional courses taught in the classroom because of the interaction between students and the instructor. Before I was teaching psychology courses, I worked at a technical college as a support staff member, which helped inspire me to go onto teaching. Additionally, my employer supported professional growth opportunities that I took advantage of over the years. I earned an additional associates degree in paralegal, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a Master of Science degree in Psychology. Beyond my degrees I completed the requirements to be certified through the Wisconsin Technical College System. My certification is good through July 2017. I attended a week long workshop in the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. I also took FERPA training and On Course for Student Success-both the foundational workshop and the advanced workshop training. I also took additional courses through Walden University such as Lifespan Development, Psychopathology from a Clinical Perspective, and Psychology and Social Change. I believe in life-long learning and continue to seek opportunities to teach and learn. As an instructor, I am both teaching and learning from my students.
