About Bhaskar Prabhala

Having arrived at JFK on the day of the Watergate Break-in, at the age of eighteen with a Bachelors Degree in Mathematics from Hindu College, Guntur, I completed a full circle and am starting a new chapter! In November 2021, I joined KL Education Foundation, KL Deemed to be University, having its main campus at Green Fields, near Vijayawada. I have a combination of industry and academic background: I started my career as an Assistant Professor in the Computer Science department at Indiana University, Bloomington; taught graduate courses in principles of programming languages, compiler construction, and was instrumental in setting up the PhD program. During my two stints at Penn State I worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, Lecturer, and Research Fellow. I gave guest lectures and conducted seminars across different departments. While spending most of my career in the Silicon Valley, I played key role in managing relationships between the companies I worked at, and Stanford, Berkeley other universities in the Bay Area. I regularly visited universities across the country for industry-academic forums. I was an organizer/session chair/contributor for several Solaris Developer Conferences. Driving successful relations with customers, developers, partners, and universities was an integral part of my job as an executive at multinational companies such as Sun Microsystems and Royal Philips. As the General Manager of R&D group at Shanghai, I was part of the country management team for Philips and established relationships with leading universities in China. I participated on behalf of Philips in multiple forums and presented on topics of innovation, applied research, and cultivation of product design and development versus manufacturing footprint for high-tech industry.
