About Bhavani Ryan

Bhavani is a Massage Therapist, Instructor, Curriculum Developer, Director, turned Firefighter, Hazmat Response Technician, and Rescue Driver. Following schooling as an RMT, where she had her thesis paper published and won an award for excellence and volunteer work with the MS Society of Manitoba, Bhavani went on to become an Instructor at the Milan Institute in California where she was promoted to Lead Instructor, Lead Clinic Supervisor and then interim Dean, within a year. Bhavani was a significant contributor to a college-wide curriculum revision and launch within her satellite campus. She managed 60 students and 5 teaching and support staff at an auxiliary campus. After a move that brought her to BC, Bhavani authored a ten month Spa Therapy program and had it published through the Private Career Training Institute Agency and launched at two separate campus facilities where she taught and coordinated the program (PCU College and VCC) Bhavani was quickly promoted to Director of the Coquitlam branch of Vancouver Career College where she managed 5 programs and all the staffing and students involved in those programs. Switching focus to more personalized student contact, Bhavani went on to become the Assistant Director of Admissions at the Art Institute in Vancouver where she interviewed students for candidacy and reviewed portfolios. Following a successful term as team lead for admissions, she was recruited by one of the most famous film schools in the world, VFS (Vancouver Film School) to lead the team as their Director of International Admissions, where she spent years negotiating contracts, and securing relationships with College Representatives and students from Asia, South Africa and the United States. Maternity leave hiatus and consideration of life goals led to a change in focus to her own personal health and fitness and long term goals of continuing learning, health and education, and she chose to take on the challenge of becoming a Firefighter. She secured the requisite firefighter school requirements and added swift water rescue training, confined space rescue training and emergency medical responder training. She is currently a full time suppression Firefighter and Hazardous Materials Technician for the city of Richmond. Bhavani is ambitious, hard working, and diligent, determined yet flexible. She is reliable, fair, and recognizes her accountability in all outcomes.
