Background
About Bianca Damati
I am a young development worker with a background deeply rooted in development, migration and human rights work, programme management and support and stakeholder engagement, and I am very passionate about advancing human rights for individuals across the globe. I have a demonstrated history of working in UN agencies, migration assistance, and the third sector. I am skilled in research analysis, programme management, knowledge managament and capacity building. I have technical and thematic expertise on migration and development both from an institutional level at IOM HQ where we developed, coordinated and monitored projects and from a local perspective acquired while working on the field in Ecuador for an NGO providing durable solutions to migrants, where we implemented international donor funded projects in contact with beneficiaries. I am well-versed with knowledge of needs on the ground with communities, I can bridge the gap between donors and beneficiaries. I am able to involve communities and local perspectives in design and planning, including local actors, ensuring their perspectives and needs as an essential part of project development. Especially because I also worked with other UN agencies from the perspective of NGOs. I have both worked on project development, implementation and knowledge management as part of monitoring and evaluation so I have been involved in the entire project cycle and I am aware of opportunities and challenges to be addressed in every stage. Currently working for an Italian NGO in Albania for a short-term deployment to support a EU funded project focusing on social enterprises established to foster economic integration and training of vulnerable and discriminated people coming from rural areas and from Roma communities. Previously I was one year in Ecuador working on the field for a local NGO supporting migrants finding durable solutions in the new host country, focusing on protection and livelihood strategies. Beforehand I worked for IOM (UN Migration agency) for 9 months in the Migration and Sustainable Development Uni at HQ to support the Making Migration Work for Sustainable Development (M4SD) programme, an 11-country flagship programme coordinated by HQ and implemented at the same time in 11 different countries supporting migration and development initiatives with an emphasis on the local level.
