About Bibhuti Sharma

I am currently working as strategic transport modeller at TfNSW. I did PhD in public transport accessibility. My PhD topic is The topic of my PhD is “Strategic approach in analysing the demand for Park-and-ride (PNR) facilities in South East Queensland(SEQ)”. I developed series of discrete choice models at the mode choice level and PNR lot choice level to assess the PNR demand in SEQ. From the lot choice model that I prepared, I found that ‘utilization’ of PNR lot as an endogenous variable; a new finding in the area of PNR. Also, I used discrete time hazard method to model the arrival time of cars at PNR lots to establish that PNR demand is a ‘dynamic’ process as opposed to the prevalent practice of treating it as a ‘static’ process. The skills I acquired from my PhD are largely under the area of Travel Behaviour, Transport Demand Modelling, Econometrics and Statistics. Also, from graduate certificate courses on Public Transportation here at UQ, I have gained an education about various aspects of Public Transport like Policy and Regulation, Network and Service Planning, Operations and Service Delivery, Economics and Finance, and Performance Assessment.
