Photonics | Materials Science | Data Analysis | Condensed Matter Physics | Experienced Lecturer With over 10 years of experience in academia, I have valuable experience in both research and teaching at the university level. My areas of specialisation are photonics, condensed matter physics, density functional theory (DFT), materials science, and data analysis using Python. I focus on understanding many-body physics by optically probing 2D materials and simulation using nonlinear models. I am also experienced in using spectroscopic ellipsometry techniques for studying new two-dimensional materials, with a special focus on novel anisotropic materials. I have previously worked on simulating material properties using DFT softwares. Professional Experience- Lecturer: Demonstrated history of working in the higher education sector- Researcher: Skilled in conducting advanced research in photonics, condensed matter physics, and materials science, with emphasis on two-dimensional materials. Leadership Roles- Vice President, Heriot-Watt University Optica Chapter (2025-2026): Leading initiatives to enhance the chapter's impact and engagement within the academic community- Secretary, Heriot-Watt University Optica Chapter (2024-2025): Successfully organized and managed chapter activities, promoting optical science and engineering. I was in the organising committee of the first student-run SCOT Conference for all Scottish Universities held at St.Andrews, Scotland. I was also in the organising committee of the first student-run symposium, wellness trip for PhD students, and other social and academic events at IPAQS, Heriot-Watt University- Event Organiser, Aaivalayam, Coimbatore (2019-2022): As a researcher, I was the lead organiser of seminars and training post graduate students-During my childcare break, I was actively involved in organising several academic and extra curricular events at schools- Outreach Incharge for undergraduate students, Loyola College,Chennai (2010-2011): Main aim was to organise undergraduate students to provide physics tutoring to underprivileged school children- Department Secretary (2001-2004): Organized seminars and department events during undergraduate studies, fostering academic engagement and collaboration. Organisational and Management experience- Experienced in organizing intra-department, inter-department, and national conferences and events during my academic and professional career, facilitating knowledge exchange and collaboration.
