About Bijoy Kumar Sahoo

Presently a student of 2-year LLM at Utkal University after graduating 3-year LLB(Hons) in First Class from University Law College, Bhubaneswar.Earlier switched to Academics at IIT Kanpur in Dec'20 with tenure till Mar'22. This suited me fine since my 2-year statutory restriction on taking up any commercial employment due to past Electricity Ombudsman assignment will end then. Subject is very close to my heart, and happy to resume IITK Campus Life after a 4-decade gap. Hope to make some significant contribution to the research project at CER based on my past qualification & experience, while getting an opportunity to upgrade my skills also.I have recently completed my 3 years' tenure and relinquished charges from the O/o the Electricity Ombudsman at Odisha on 2nd April, 2020.Prior to that, in April, 2017 I had resigned from JSP and thereafter has joined the statutory position of Electricity Ombudsman-II with headquarters at Bhubaneswar in the state of Odisha.Since Dec'16 till Apr'17, I was heading the Captive Power Plant (including Process Boilers & BP Turbine) of JSPL, Angul.I had earlier completed the task of Commissioning of a 4X600MW Power Plant in record time and further 2 years at O&M of the 3400MW station at JPL (TAMNAR), after working for one & half decades each at (i) State Electricity Regulatory Commissions involved with utilities in the areas of Distribution, Transmission, Generation, Trading (DERC/OERC), and (ii) Public Sector Generating Company, NTPC (KSTPS/TSTPS). I was assigned a role in the Regulatory & Trading Function of the Power Business in the Group from Jun-Dec'16.I do have continuing interests in other areas of work involving Regulatory/Legal, Commercial/Trading, Energy Efficiency/ Renewable, Business Development/Liaison, and Consultancy/Education etc, some of which I wish to pursue more vigorously towards later stages of my life,
