I relate to these words from a great leader because I have lived them. I did not pursue a linear academic and corporate path but developed a passion for technology having grown up in the 90’s when video games and computers were all the rage. Following in the footsteps of my father who worked in technology too, it was a matter of time before I found myself restless in my first job of Office Administration and turned my attention to IT. I completed numerous IT certifications studying at night and when I landed a role in IT Support and Systems Administration at Clarity International, I knew I had found my path. My enthusiasm for technology, innovation, complex problem solving and consistently delivering great customer experiences has led me to step forward in roles where my experience may have been limited at first, but where hard work and curiosity has ultimately led to success. As a leader in IT, I’ve learned that accountability, effective communication and helping others to succeed are winning formulas for exceeding expectations at all levels of the organisation, making things easier for end users and creating excellent customer experiences. Some ways I’ve continued to achieve and contribute are: • Provided Solution Architecture and SME technical skills on the $40m EPIC EMR project which implemented the first fully electronic medical record hospital system in Australian Healthcare. • Consolidated and migrated mission critical systems and databases to virtualised infrastructure which resulted in license cost savings and improved system redundancy and performance. • Wrote numerous successful Business Cases which were signed off by the CEO. • Appointed as the Lead Systems Administrator for 24/7 mission critical Medical Imaging System which stores approx. 100TB+ of digitised X-rays. I’m on a constant journey of stepping outside of my comfort zone and one of the ways I’ve done this is to obtain my skydiving licence. I stay fit and balanced by going to the gym, traveling, tinkering around with cars and motorbikes and I would definitely call myself a ‘foodie’.
