About Bill Armitage

SCCA National License Flagging & Communications Specialist. Provide on-track safety services for road racing motor sport competitors. Duties include displaying proper flags for track conditions or incidents. Communicate observations to race control. Respond to incidents as needed. I also serve as corner captain/chief post marshal at various events leading other corner marshals in maintaining a safe environment on-track for competitors, spectators and other officials. I also have served as flag chief for major motor sports events at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Circuit of The Americas (Formula One Only). Responsible for recruiting, assigning, and managing corner marshals. I currently am Race Chair for both FIA World Endurance Championship and Formula One World Championship events and Circuit of The Americas. I am also currently Race Chair and Flag Chief for USAC at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the IndyCar Grand Prix, SVRA, USAC Karting and MORPCA events. I also recruited and managed corner and pit marshals for the 2017 Race of Champions at Marlins Park in Miami Florida for USAC. I was awarded the SCCA F&C Worker of the Year in 2016.
