About Bill Armstrong

Having served a draughting apprenticeship at Swan Hunter Shipbuilders in Wallsend (Tyne & Wear) from 1979 to 1982, I enhanced my draughting experience for various companies, gaining experience in steelwork and pipework systems for pharmaceutical, food processing, petro-chemical and offshore companies. I worked offshore in both the Forties Fields and Morecambe Bay Fields, and also onshore in Scotland and the Midlands for many years, with a short period in Bergen (Norway), working in the GULFAKS Sector. I have extensive experience in computer systems, such as AutoCad, Bently AutoPlant (Isometrics), MS Office, Access, Powerpoint, MSProject, Visio etc… In 1991 I moved into management, having gained experience in estimating, planning, cost control systems, etc… and have been involved in managing a number of small and medium sized projects, ranging from £10k to £2.5 Million. My duties involve the project managing of various projects throughout the UK, running several sites simultaneously, liasing with clients; mangement, work force; and inter-work departments, such as purchasing, estimating and drawing office. I am also the SHE professional within Pipetawse, keeping up to date with the changing SHE legislation, carrying out audits, toolbox talks, safety newsletters, investigating accidents, and mapping trends etc…
