About Bill Burnett

I’ve had a fantastic career in hospitality for over 30 years now and I’ve enjoyed working with many great professionals in our industry. There’s been a lot of hard work in great hotels in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen over the years, but also enough time for a whole lot of fun as well. There’s been many challenges but through great colleagues, family and friends I’ve enjoyed many career highlights. I’ve worked in some of Scotland’s great hotels and each had their own unique mix of corporate, leisure and event business. I have experienced corporately owned brands and privately owned franchised brand operations. I have in depth experience in the management foundations that our industry relies upon – Food & Beverage, Conference & Events, Rooms & Revenue Management, Sales & Marketing, Human Resources, Financial Accounting and Leadership. I have been involved in new hotel openings, redevelopment projects and new hotel feasibility studies. One of my greatest achievements was the opening of a new hotel from the final construction phase into operational trading. Holiday Inn Aberdeen West remains one of Europe's most respected Holiday Inn hotels and continues to receive top industry awards. My own career highlights wouldn’t have been achieved without teamwork from my colleagues. In 2013 I was both Holiday Inn European General Manager of the Year for Intercontinental Hotels and General Manager of the Year in The Scottish Hotel Awards. As Joint Vice Chairman of Aberdeen City and Shire Hoteliers Association (ACSHA) I am an active participant in tourism lobbying and business development activities on behalf of our hotel members. I am a previous Chairman of Edinburgh Principal Hotel’s Association (EPHA). Looking back is great and I have enjoyed my own great journey. But life is all about looking ahead and I’m still learning as our industry develops and most importantly I’m still having fun
