About Bill Caruthers

In a full-circle moment, personally and professionally. I have recently accepted an appointment to serve as the Superintendent of McLoud Public Schools beginning in the Summer of 2025. A place where I began my career and really, my adult life. Having served the district for 15 years as a classroom teacher. counselor, Director, Principal, and Asst. Supt I left there in to begin my Superintendent career. After a 25 year career as a Superintendent and College Professor, I am I began working at ECU in the Fall of 2014 as Director of Educational Leadership, working with aspiring principals and superintendents. From 2016 - 19, I did double duty as Superintendent at Allen PS as well as retaining my directorship at ECU. I decided to retire from my superintendency in June of 2019. I returned in the fall of 2019 to ECU, after my first summer off since 1990, as a Director in Educational Leadership at ECU in Ada, working with aspiring Superintendents only in our Graduate Program. I'm still a feature writer and music reviewer for Country Standard Time Magazine. Prior to this, I was a Public School Superintendent in Oklahoma for over 20 years. In addition to Allen, I served at Silo Public Schools, one of the fastest growing rural districts in the state and at Geary in western OK. I am a founder of Educational Underwriters or EDU, Inc, which is a non-profit aimed at certification of scientifically research-based educational products as compliant with NCLB/USDE (now ESSA) guidelines. I served on former State Superintendent Sandy Garrett's Superintendent Advisory Panel for many years and have taught School Finance, Special Programs, Plant Management, and related courses for education graduate students in Oklahoma and out of state universities for several years. I am open to online teaching or administrative consulting in the right situation.
