About Bill Champitto

I am seeking full or part time employment working with progressive, contemporary music programs at the college level, or college prep levels. I am also available for touring, recording and writing collaboration. I am a singer, pianist, Hammond organist, songwriter and performer, with three full length releases of original music. As a solo musician, I have been nominated for Best Jazz Act by New England Music Awards, a past winner of the Dimock Center’s Steppin’ Out music competition, first place winner in OurStage.com’s JVC Newport Jazz Festival competition and winner in the 2009 Independent Music Awards in the Ringtone Category. In my career I shared the stage with Grammy Winner Paula Cole, blues harmonica great James Cotton, various members of Boston, Foreigner, The Motown “Funk Brothers”, Robert Holmes from ‘Til Tuesday, The Temptations, Esperanza Spaulding, Layla Hathaway, Andre Ward, and have performed and recorded with members of the Boston Pops, backing band for Sting and Chris Botte, Yo-Yo Ma, and many others. I began performing music in 1974, including touring as a sideman, session work, band leader, songwriter and teacher. I have also worked in corporate consulting as a Manager of Client Engagements, program manager and individual contributor to multimedia, graphic design, web and, mobile projects. Throughout my music career I taught private instruction to students of all ages and abilities acquired mostly at performances where musicians approach me with an interest in lessons. In the last 5 years I have worked with formal programs and currently teach part time private instruction, and subbing for ensemble, applied theory and music production at the high school level with Pingree School in South Hamilton MA. I am currently writing a book on improvisation for people at all levels of music development who struggle to solo, improvise or create music based on original ideas.
