About Bill Costello

In my first life, I was a photo retoucher in the world of print and advertising, for 30 years. When you do the same thing every day for 30 years, you become a master craftsman at that trade, which indeed I am. In terms of skills and precision and speed and experience, there are a very few at my level. Eventually, the days of highly paid retouching managers staffed in large traditional advertising agencies began to come to an end, as automation, outsourcing, and the days of high end print retouching gave way to lower end digital and social media retouching. While I could have stayed in my trade, I took this as a sign that maybe I should start a new career doing something totally new. Which leads me to my new life as a business owner in the field of Paintless Dent Repair. My lifelong skills in both photo retouching and marketing myself are both utilized in my new trade. Now I do retouching on real cars, working with metal tools instead of a computer and graphic tablet. I trained in California with one of the best PDR techs in the industry and I opened my own local company called Precision Paintless Dent Repair. I really enjoy working locally, serving people in my community, and working with my hands using highly-crafted, refined tools. I am still an artist as before, and I feel the same satisfaction when I complete a job that almost nobody else in the world can do, just as when I did high end photo retouching.
