About Bill Gaede

William (Bill) Gaede is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP and is based in the Firm’s Silicon Valley office. Bill is a member of the Firm’s Personalized Medicine Team and also serves as hiring partner for the Silicon Valley office. Bill focuses his practice on intellectual property litigation in the life sciences and medical device industries. Bill’s practice further focuses on risk management for companies addressing freedom to operate issues. He serves as lead counsel for a wide range of companies and research institutes and has experience with genomics, proteomics, small molecule and protein therapeutics, antibodies, diagnostics, formulations and devices. In addition to Bill’s jury trial experience, he has also argued before the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals. Bill's addition to the Firm was recognized as one of the ten most significant lateral moves in the U.S. in 2005 in The American Lawyer’s feature, “Star Laterals of the Year.” Bill was named by the Daily Journal as one of the top 25 biotech lawyers in California for 2011. He is recommended in PLC Which Lawyer? 2011 for U.S: Life Sciences - Patent Litigation.
