About Bill Hill

I just joined the Adaptive Path at Capital One team! I am part of the One Design team, joining Brandon Schauer, Kendra Shimmell, and an amazing group of people at Pier 1. With a commitment to Changing Banking for Good, our team works with product and service teams throughout Capital One to create engaging, effective customer experiences. A bit of my past: I was employee number 12 at IDEO, integrating graphic design into what was initially an engineering driven product firm. IDEO was my equivalent of graduate school, offering me the chance to work with colleagues and clients who didn't know the word "this is impossible." Designing the molded icons on the back of the Macintosh, I had another amazing gift at an early stage of my career: presenting to Steve Jobs and living to tell about it. I co-founded the San Francisco office of MetaDesign in 1992 with a mission to create value for clients through the integration of design and business. We grew an international firm of over 60-people to solve branding, information design, and service service problems for clients like: Adobe, Apple, Audi, Bank of America, Ernst & Young, Four Seasons, Hewlett-Packard, Sony, Wells Fargo, and UBS. As Director of Creative Services at Silicon Valley Bank from 2010-12, I led an internal team of 8 designers and project managers that created and delivered marketing experiences for one of the most innovative banking institutions in the world. I designed and developed mobile sales tools for the Private Bank directed at the families of Silicon Valley’s top entrepreneurs and venture capitalists. I have always augmented the practice of design with teaching and speaking engagements at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design, the Institute of Design at Illinois Institute of Technology, the American University of Beirut, and Design Management Institute. Member of the Board of Advisors of the Institute of Design at Illinois Institute of Technology and Director of REBRAND Consulting.
