Bill Munn is Secretary and General Counsel of Nelnet, Inc. Nelnet (NYSE: NNI) is a diversified hybrid holding company with primary businesses in consumer lending, loan servicing, payments, and technology - all with a large customer emphasis in the education space. Nelnet is the country's largest student loan servicer, with over 14 million borrower accounts under management for the U.S. Department of Education, holds a loan portfolio in excess of $10 billion, and provides tuition payment plans and administrative services for over 3 million K-12 families. We also make investments to diversify our revenue, in fiber communications, renewable energy, real estate, and start-up ventures. Bill joined the company in October, 1998. He received his undergraduate and law degrees at the University of Nebraska, and prior to joining Nelnet, was in private law practice for four years in Lincoln, Nebraska and Denver, Colorado. At Nelnet, Bill’s responsibilities include public company governance, mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, securities compliance, complex commercial transactions, corporate formation and maintenance, support of the Board of Directors and Board Committees, and oversight of legal, compliance, security, risk, and regulatory matters. Bill is a member of the Colorado Bar Association and the Association of Corporate Counsel and serves on the Executive Committee of the Colorado General Counsel Mentor Program, and participates in the Community College of Aurora Presidential Scholars Mentor Program.
