About Bill Obrien

Director of the Adaptive Platforms Strategy & Development team in the CTO organization at Centurylink. Formerly the co-architect of Centurylink's international & industry leading NFV platform, the Programmable Services Backbone. I accepted the Director position in 2014 to lead an innovative multi-disciplinary team to deliver on the vision set forth in 2012 as the platform's Principal Architect. I have over 16 years in telecommunications, designing IaaS architectures, carrier network management solutions and analytic systems design. I co-designed a NFV platform that gave Centurylink an early lead among the other large carriers in NFV. I continue work on the evolution of a unified architecture orchestrating cloud, SDN and "big data" as an adaptive service delivery platform. My responsibilities include managing multi-million dollar budgets, design and complex systems into services from lab to production. I'm responsible for communicating technology impacts and value among executive leadership and technology peers. It's a very exciting time in the industry and several classes of technologies are converging indicating a profound transformation in service delivery and user experience driven by emergence of contextual services. Its my intention to design these intelligent platforms and services with other passionate people thus transforming how people interact with technology!
