1) I interpreted 700+ km of 2D seismic data over a "virgin," inverted rift basin in East Africa. With very little well control, I interpreted a previously unrecognized half graben and built a case that it is an oil kitchen within a gas prone setting. 2) I increased pre-drill OOIP estimates 10 fold, elevating one pre-salt carbonate prospect to “world class.” My NAPE presentation possibly influenced TOTAL to make a significant commitment to the basin. My 3D seismic interpretation contradicted a 15-year study by a ”major,” yet was favored by competent persons knowledgeable of both. I also restored value to acreage previously condemned, making a second property “whole” again. 3) I developed an acre “resource” prospect from a regional study of the GOM coastal plane. Devon’s acre acquisition over my target area verified the prospect. 4) “Experience,” coaching me to review a deepwater turbidite concept, said no turbidites have been observed here, therefore no fans should be found. I leveraged geologic insights and recognized Mutti Type 2 turbidites, and three additional, unexpected leads. In each case, I began with little or no a priori knowledge but, with research, and observation, I quickly made robust and prospective interpretations. With 12+ years of progressive experience, I am a proven prospect generator, skilled in the integration of geologic understanding into seismic interpretation.
