After realizing I wasn’t going to be a psychologist (since I didn’t have a PhD or possess the particular urge to write a case thesis), I parlayed what I liked about psychology—people—into marketing. With a focus on changing people’s lives, instead of only making people money, I found a deeper thread tying what I love to do with what others need in business. With an MBA from DePaul, I worked my way from marketing to operations. I have had the pleasure of working in some very exciting industries and now serve as a Fractional COO for various businesses. After 20 years as a C-level executive, I’ve realized a few things: Money doesn’t make people happy (but I can still help you make a lot of it). Creating financial growth and operational strategies is imperative for a successful business. Being an expert does not make me a robot, but it helps you create revenue—and I can provide you with the exact, tailored blueprint for your business. As an employee of Chicago-based Earles Architects and Associates (EAA), CFO and part-owner of SEAATS, its commercial furnishings company, part-owner of Goody’s Famous Popcorn, CFO for It’s Just Lunch (the largest traditional matchmaking service in the world), a boutique PR firm Mekky Media Relations (featured in Forbes) and Rebelhouse Studios (LA-based production company), my team manages companies with a combined revenue of $30M. My capabilities: evaluate operational needs, implement growth-oriented organizational changes, minimize business and financial risks, position for long-term growth, understand complex financial and operational issues, balance the need for cost efficiency with the desire to innovate, bootstrap companies from scratch and guide them to profitability, support financial and operational accounting, and offer strategic marketing services.
