I believe in teaching and learning with hands on experience. As an example, each year I guide my 7th grade science classrooms in designing and building a hover-board. The only restrictions are, no wheels allowed and using only ordinary everyday materials that have nothing to do with a hover-board! It is a great experience for them, as they have to practice their skills at collaborating not just with classmates, but also understanding what has been accomplished on the project by the other classes. This project ties together nearly every law and principle they are learning for an entire semester in 7th grade Science and Math. After a few iterations they are riding a whole semester’s worth of new knowledge and fun, up and down the hallway!
