About Bill Simpson

I am a software engineer with 15 years of experience working across a variety of industries including healthcare, banking and talent management. I am a polyglot developer who can easily learn new languages and apply them competently. I find weighing the pros and cons of different tools, frameworks, platforms and implementation strategies to be great fun and am always on the lookout for ways to gain a competitive advantage through technology. I am more comfortable with backend development as opposed to frontend development, but am capable of and experienced with both. I am proficient with object oriented and functional approaches to software development, but am not ideologically bound to either. Also- I favor simple solutions over complex ones, but also try to avoid oversimplifying problems as a result of a lack of knowledge I may have about a problem domain- I would rather learn a new tool than try to use one I already know badly if it is not appropriate for a given situation- I value the experience and knowledge of others- I value adaptability and pragmatism over rigidity and conceptual purity.
