Senior Manager of Project Managers with over 30 years of experience in software development, business process re-engineering, multiple-project coordination and recovery of troubled projects with up to 150 personal. Also, an instructor of project management courses for ten years. I’m motivated by the challenge of rescuing “problem” projects and coaching staff how to grow and improve. For a project to be successful you have break down the big problems into simpler problems, ensure the decision makers are in place and have a strong project discipline to regularly and accurately manage the plan, financials, issues, risks, resources, communication and most importantly staff. Being able to connect with all the key people on the project, understanding their perspective and role, and then relaying to them, in their own terms, what their role is, what the expectations are, regularly following up and using the appropriate tools will deliver a successful project. The best part of being a Project Manager is when a team member (Executive Sponsor to Tester) has an “ah ha” moment and understands what the project is about, what their role is and how they can personally make a difference to the project’s success. When almost everyone on the team understands the above, success takes care of itself.
