About Bill Ward

I recently retired from my agency after serving in law enforcement for 28 years, during this time I served in a number of capacities including patrol, investigations, supervision, and administration. I most recently managed the Operations Division of the Sheriff's Office which includes patrol, investigations, and the Coroner function. I was the Terrorism Liaison Officer-Coordinator and managed the Threat Assessment and Management program. I was in the process of building the department's Crime Analysis and Intelligence function, including a Real Time Information Center and was also starting the Rapid DNA program for the department when I retired. I am currently an Adjunct Instructor at a community college where I teach Criminology classes and co-developed the Crime Scene Investigation Certificate program. I built the Advanced Criminal Investigations course for this program. I am passionate about education and recently completed my PhD in Forensic Psychology from Walden University. I am looking forward to a second career where I can leverage my knowledge, training, experience, and education. My areas of greatest interest are threat assessment, protective intelligence, teaching in higher education, and research on targeted violence and violent extremism.
