I had never planned to be in Sales, but thanks to my gut feeling, curiosity, and a little bit of elbow grease, I am grateful to have had the opportunity to help establish a consumer brand from the ground up.I thought my original calling was healthcare since I cherish working as a team to overcome challenges and helping people. So, it felt natural that I’d finish school with a Bachelor in Health Sciences.However, as graduation drew close, I stumbled upon a small start-up led by talented individuals with a strong determination to improve lives in their own unique way that differed greatly from healthcare. Intrigued and trusting my gut feeling, I decided to join as a bilingual customer service representative. I was utterly unaware that this would be the start of an exciting career in Sales and Technology.I was hooked. I quickly discovered that a start-up was the perfect environment for me to be constantly challenged personally and develop professionally at an accelerated pace. Having fewer resources available than more established companies means I had to put my thinking hat on, more than once, to come up with creative solutions and help the team lay down the first stepping stones of a growing business. This ranged from planning and implementing customer service processes, to producing marketing content and coordinating projects.I stuck around after graduation and thrived as the company did too – it is infinitely rewarding to see efforts come to fruition and being able to breath life into an emerging brand.Fast forward 5 years, I am currently a Sales and Account Manager and the start-up has become one of the top leading car electronics brands in North America. I enjoy strategizing business initiatives with national retail partners like Best Buy and finding new ways to expand our brand presence.
