About Billy Cinkay

Imagine being a Police Sergeant, placed in handcuffs with your badge in your back pocket. I was a dedicated Police Sergeant who worked in Law Enforcement for 13 years until my career was cut short by alcohol abuse. After an alcohol fueled incident that subsequently lead to my arrest, I was forced to resign due to off-duty misconduct. Immediately after completing an in-patient dedicated First Responder Treatment program, my purpose became helping others to get the proper help before they hit rock bottom like I did. It is not only my purpose, it is my passion. Upon my resignation I started at the bottom working for an in-patient substance abuse treatment facility as a Direct Service Technician. Approximately 90% of the clients were either detainees or jail transfers, attending treatment under legal obligation. Talk about a life change, tending and caring for the men that I had been arresting in my previous career. It only solidified my desire to help all that suffer from the evils of substance abuse. I am now blessed to be working as an Outreach Specialist for Haven Health Management who offers Treatment for both alcohol and substance abuse disorders, along with mental health issues (dual diagnosis). In this capacity I have the opportunity to: • Expose First Responders to the Haven for Heroes program and what we have to offer • Train First Responders how to get the help they need CONFIDENTIALLY • Train First Responders on what your FMLA rights are, and how to utilize FMLA for Treatment • Provide an affordable and most effective Treatment Center with a dedicated First Responder program • Give firsthand testimony on the advantages of First Responders receiving tailormade treatment • Provide treatment opportunities to Non-First Responders (both substance abuse disorders and mental health) Hindsight is 20/20, and I wish I would have been exposed to treatment options before I made the mistakes that cost me the career I not only loved but worked so hard to achieve.
