About Billy Hicks

Retired public school administrator, successful athletics coach, retired English & Journalism teacher, and current webmaster and coaching clinic/event host who is a loyal and hardworking individual with leadership experience and good critical thinking skills. I have had success in my educational career as an administrator, teacher, and coach as I have good technical, critical thinking, communication, and leadership skills. I enjoy working with staff members and the community as a team to ensure a quality environment for leadership and success. Also, I have experience in developing and managing websites. I have managed websites for my high school softball teams in the past and also run the websites txprepsoftball.net and gulfcoastclinic.com. In addition to the Texas Prep Softball, I coordinate a mailing list of over 750 high school softball coaches in Texas. The mailing list and Texas Prep Softball help our high school coaches network with announcements, fill their schedules with scrimmages, games, and tournaments, and provide other services to help coaches succeed in their profession. I am co-director of the Gulf Coast Softball Coaches Clinic for the 18th consecutive year in January 2022. We provide softball coaches a venue to get instruction in softball skills, strategies, and administration, along with team building and networking opportunities. We have advanced from 75 attendees to consistently hosting 600+ coaches yearly. I coordinate the promotion, registration, technology, and logistics of the meetings. During my career, I worked hard to give my students and athletes a chance for success in their future lives, whether through a college education, trade school, military service, or straight into the workforce. I pride myself in guiding these students and learning of the successes they have in their educational, professional, and personal lives. It has been my goal to ensure that they have skills to be successful in our society. I'm also the Communications Director for the LSU Alumni Houston Chapter since 2020 and have been on the board for several years.
