About Binaya Poudel

I earned my Master of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, specializing in Water Resources. During my academic journey, I had the privilege of serving as a Graduate Research Assistant under the guidance of Dr. Abdoul Oubeidillah. My primary focus was on a vital project in collaboration with the University and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). Over the span of two years, I contributed as a Graduate Assistant to the Water Monitoring Project. This initiative was pivotal in enhancing our understanding of water quality and environmental dynamics in the Lower Rio Grande Valley. My research was dedicated to the development of Intensity Duration Frequency Curves (IDF curves), a critical tool for assessing rainfall patterns and predicting extreme weather events like hurricanes. Additionally, I played a key role in the creation of hyetographs, which are essential for forecasting and managing these high-impact events. Following graduation, I worked at Hunsaker & Associates in San Diego, where I focused on hydrology and stormwater modeling for multifamily and commercial developments, ensuring regulatory compliance and flood resilience across Southern California. At Triangle Engineering LLC in Texas, I led civil site design for land development projects—preparing full utility, drainage, and grading plans for commercial sites like gas stations and hotels while coordinating city approvals. Currently, at Desmata Inc, I develop hydrology software tools using R Programming supporting national efforts in flood management, climate modeling, and infrastructure planning. My Hobbies are Singing, paying musical instruments like Guitar, Drum, playing games, travelling, eating, video making to support my YouTube channel, Camping, Meditation and helping needy people.
